Trípoli, Libia. Una veintena de migrantes de África subsahariana han muerto a manos de traficantes de personas en una playa de Libia después de haberse negado a subir a un barco rumbo a Europa, indicó este miércoles una fuente de seguridad.

Los migrantes clandestinos, que se disponían a intentar la peligrosa travesía del Mediterráneo, se negaron a montar a bordo de la embarcación con motivo del mal tiempo, indicó esta fuente que no quiso desvelar su identidad.

La Media Luna Roja libia confirmó el drama que tuvo lugar el pasado fin de semana en la playa de Sabrata, pero no ha podido aportar más detalles.

En Ginebra, la Organización Internacional para las Migraciones (OIM) indicó el martes que tenía información sobre la muerte de 22 migrantes. “Parece que ha habido un tiroteo entre los traficantes, lo que ha provocado la muerte de 22 migrantes”, aseguró.

Seis años después de la caída de Muamar Gadafi, Libia, desgarrada por las luchas de poder y la violencia, se ha convertido en un centro de paso de la inmigración clandestina hacia Europa. DA
