La agresión, que tenía como objetivo al primer ministro del país africano, fue reivindicada por grupos islamistas radicales

Dieciséis personas —diez civiles y seis altos mandos militares— murieron y varias resultaron heridas en un atentado perpetrado el viernes por un kamizake en el centro de Somalia y reivindicado por islamistas radicales.

“Dieciséis personas murieron, la mayoría civiles”, declaró Abdullahi Suleyman, un funcionario de seguridad local contactado por teléfono por la agencia AFP.

Los islamistas radicales de Al Shabab, vinculados a Al Qaida, reivindicaron el ataque que, según ellos, tenía como objetivo al primer ministro somalí Rooble Mohammed Hussein.

El atentado fue cometido a la entrada de un estadio donde era esperado el primer ministro, en el sector sur de la ciudad de Galkayo, a unos 600 kilómetros de Mogadiscio, la capital.

Somalia es un país hundido en el caos desde el derrocamiento del régimen militar del presidente Siad Barré en 1991, seguido de una guerra de jefes de clanes y del aumento del poder del grupo Al Shabab, que controló Mogadiscio hasta que fueron expulsados en 2011.

Sin embargo el grupo radical controlando vastas zonas rurales desde las que lleva a cabo operaciones de guerrilla y ataques suicidas, incluso en la capital, contra objetivos gubernamentales, de seguridad o civiles.
